This file is a dump of the chip from a real SCPH-5502 motherboard. It contains the console’s low-level boot code, CD-ROM routines, and kernel functions.

The SCPH-5502 console unit debuted alongside the introduction of the DualShock controller (originally sold as the Analog Controller in Europe). Consequently, the scph5502.bin BIOS was the first standard European firmware to natively support analog input protocols without requiring complex workarounds.
