This paper explores the transformation of how Bengali entertainment content is sought, consumed, and disseminated, transitioning from a localized, scheduled model to a global, on-demand ecosystem. Historically rooted in literature and theater, the Bengali entertainment industry has undergone a paradigm shift with the advent of satellite television and, subsequently, the digital revolution. This study analyzes the shift in search behaviors from physical media and television guides to algorithmic discovery on Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms and social media. It further examines the dichotomy between the "Bhadralok" (gentlefolk) aesthetic of Kolkata and the mass appeal of the "Jatra" and Bangladeshi film industries, and how digital platforms are bridging these distinct cultural streams.
