Yukimi Tohno [ 100% PROVEN ]
Shiki’s psychological trauma in Tsukihime originates from two sources: the Nanaya massacre and his adoption. Yukimi’s inability to be a "real mother" fuels his feelings of rootlessness. In the Kagetsu Tohya fan disc, Shiki has nightmares where Yukimi’s face morphs into that of a stranger, symbolizing his fear that her love was conditional.
Yukimi is not Shiki’s biological mother. She is the second wife of Makihisa Tohno, Akiha’s father and Shiki’s adoptive father. Her exact origins are left ambiguous—typical of Tsukihime ’s more mysterious characters—but it’s implied she came from a branch family or was brought in as a caretaker before becoming Makihisa’s wife. yukimi tohno
Her physical appearance mirrors her personality: soft-spoken, elegant, and perpetually melancholic. With long, dark hair and gentle features, she evokes the image of a classical Japanese noblewoman—polite to a fault, yet eerily distant. In the original Tsukihime visual novel and its manga adaptation, Yukimi appears only in flashbacks and a few key present-day scenes. Yet, her presence looms large over every decision Shiki makes.
