The movie is based on the novel "One Shot" by Lee Child. Jack Reacher (played by Tom Cruise) is a former Major in the United States Army Military Police Corps who has been drifting from town to town, taking on odd jobs and getting into fights. He arrives in Margrave, Georgia, and is arrested for being a vagrant.
