Fog is the enemy of optical zoom. Thermal imaging sees through light fog and haze. For port authorities using Axis cameras, the allows them to spot a small boat engine's heat signature (HOT spot) miles away, then use the optical zoom to read the vessel's name.

The "HOT" element shines at distance. For example, the Thermal Camera can detect a human at over 2,000 meters. Unlike optical cameras that see a tiny pixel at that range, the thermal sensor maintains contrast. When coupled with a high-zoom optical lens (e.g., 30x or 60x zoom), operators can toggle between the wide thermal view for detection and the optical view for identification. Live View - Axis HOT

Without specific context, "Axis HOT" could refer to a particular model, series, or technology developed by Axis Communications. Axis often introduces various technologies and product lines aimed at enhancing surveillance and video analytics. Fog is the enemy of optical zoom

In the Axis HOT labs, instructors hammer home . If you are monitoring 16 cameras on one monitor, your GPU is crying—even on a good day. The "HOT" element shines at distance

: When an operator clicks on any smaller camera frame or a specific icon on a map, that camera's live feed automatically loads into the designated "Hotspot" frame for a larger, detailed view. Dynamic Alarm Display : The Hotspot can be integrated into Action Rules
