The film is set in the village of Tanakpur and centers on Arjun (played by Rahul Bagga), a young man who falls in love with Maya, the wife of the powerful and oppressive village headman, Sualal Gandas (Annu Kapoor). Upon discovering the affair, Sualal uses his influence to frame Arjun for a bizarre and humiliating crime: the "rape" of his prized buffalo, Miss Tanakpur.
