Abstract This paper examines the phenomenon of highly compressed PC game distributions using Hitman: Absolution as a case study. It analyzes technical methods used to compress and redistribute large games, legal and ethical implications, impacts on user experience and developer revenue, and alternatives for legitimate access. The paper concludes with recommendations for stakeholders: players, developers/publishers, and digital distribution platforms.
The “hot top” highly compressed Hitman: Absolution does exactly what it promises: saves bandwidth at the cost of installation time and safety. The game itself is a – not the best Hitman , but a solid 7/10 experience.
